The tropical-inspired lifestyle brand Balmy Palms has selected three finalists in its search for an original trop rock song to represent the brand on its website, in radio spots and in other media.

Now they need your help. The public is being asked to help Balmy Palms make the final selection for the song that best represents its brand. All three songs can be heard, and votes can be cast, at www.balmypalms.com through September 15, 2013.

“We received many songs from very talented singer/songwriters across the country, and we thank all of them for participating in our song search,” says Kara Benson, Balmy Palms Marketing Director. “We’ve chosen three finalists that best represent the carefree, laid-back tropical island feeling conveyed by our brand. All three songs make great use of our tagline and put listeners in a Balmy Palms state of mind. Now we’d like the public to help us choose just one.”

The Balmy Palms tagline is “No worries, no qualms …just Balmy Palms.” They want to put listeners into a Balmy Palms state of mind. Judging from these three entries, the talented singers/songwriters have done just that. It will certainly be a tough decision.

The three Balmy Palms finalists:

  • “Under those Balmy Palms” by Bry Harris of Georgia
  • “Balmy Palms” by Don Middlebrook of Michigan
  • “Balmy Palms (In an Island Song)” by Michael Williams of Florida

The winning song will receive airplay on BeachFront Radio, the Internet’s number one trop rock radio station. The artist will receive compensation as well as Balmy Palms apparel.

About the finalists:

Bry Harris is a singer/songwriter who leads the Parrot Island Band, a Jimmy Buffett tribute band made up of Bry, his wife Linda on steel pans and Kevin Garrelts on congas. Originally from the Tidewater area of Virginia, Bry has lived in the Atlanta, Georgia area for nearly 20 years. Bry and his band have played at numerous Parrot Head events throughout the Southeast. The Parrot Island Band has recorded one CD (Parrot Island Getaway) and been nominated three times as Trop Rock Duo/Trio of the Year by the Margarita Mafia (now known as the Trop Rock Music Association). Check out the band at Parrotislandband.com.

Don Middlebrook is considered by many to be one of the founding fathers of trop rock music. He has performed in more than 150 tour dates a year over the past 25 years. Don has more than 15 albums to his credit, along with a four-year tour with Greg “Fingers” Taylor, Jimmy Buffett’s harmonica player of 26 years. Don’s work has been featured in Showtime movies and on the Discovery channel. He has warmed up crowds for many nationally acclaimed artists such as Reba McEntire, The Doobie Brothers, Hall and Oats, Jefferson Starship, Meatloaf and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Give him a visit at DonMiddlebrook.net.

Michael Williams is from Green Cove Springs, Florida, and is a regular at the beach in St. Augustine. A lifelong trop rock fan, he has been playing guitar and writing songs since 2001. He says the Balmy Palms song search gave him the kick start he needed to get into the recording studio. The song he wrote for Balmy Palms is his first recording. He is currently working on his first album.
