Everything looks better from the bow of a boat.

We took the boat out for the first ride of the year last weekend. It’s always nice to get back out on the water after a long, cold winter. We do most of our boating and jet-skiing in the James River or Lake Anna, which is in Louisa County, Virginia. This particular trip was to Lake Anna.

Lake Anna is the second largest freshwater (it’s also man-made) lake in Virginia. With more than 250 miles of shoreline, it is huge. A whole day can be spent exploring the various “fingers” of the lake. While it was a nice, sunny day, there was still a bit of a chill in the air so this was a quick trip.

Our short excursion did allow me the chance to test out a cool new product I purchased over the winter, the Tree Frog sticky pad. This flat, bendable, rubbery pad is super sticky and designed to hold digital and electronic devices (or anything else) safely in place while underway or anchored out.

As you can see, most anything will adhere to this unique resin pad. The boat was underway at the time that this bottle was sitting here.

I love finding neat new products, and this is certainly a cool one. All kinds of things can be stuck to this … iPods, iPads, cameras, sunglasses, laptops, a GPS, cell phones, maps and much more. As much as the inclination might arise, I probably would not try to stick my child to it. They would be too big.

The Tree Frog pad sticks to most any surface including the dash of a vehicle, making it a great companion for truck drivers, or any traveler for that matter.

We had lunch at the Anna Cabana restaurant, which is right on the lake. Park your pontoon, sail or power boat at the dock and walk right up. We sat on the deck and enjoyed the lake scene.

April is probably the earliest we’ve been out on the boat. It has been such a long cold winter that we couldn’t resist a nice, sunny day. It was a great sample of the summer to come.
