Who hasn’t taken a trip and wanted to just stay? I know I have. For anybody that might be in the market for a vacation home, Zillow has just come out with its summer edition of “Best Places to Buy a Vacation Home,” categorized by proximity to various vacation types.

For the 2014 summer edition, Zillow has named the best places to purchase a vacation home for golfers, beach-goers, nature lovers, history buffs, and amusement park fans. To be considered, each location had to meet certain criteria such as being within 20 miles of a national park or near at least two nationally known historic sites. The location also had to have between five and 15 percent of vacation homes in the area. Zillow then ranked the places based on investment potential, looking at future gains in home value as well as the potential to generate income. Not surprisingly, Florida and California swept the water, outdoor, and sun-loving categories.

Zillow has also created an interactive tool that allows vacation home shoppers to customize their own best places list based upon their preferred vacation type, price, and location. Check out this cool new tool at Zillow.com.
